We have thought for sometime that it would be really useful to be able to get data from Miquest queries back into the clinical system. Within Vamp Vision 3 patient groups are automatically created for each Miquest search, so these can be used directly. Now thanks to Dr Gerry Williams of Todmorden and Dr Eamonn Clarke who shared a way of doing this on the EMIS list, we have incorporated this facility into our EMIS LV query analysis.
Housekeeping
In EMIS LV, having run a housekeeping set, it is possible to generate a list of patients for each register and usual doctor whose records need checking. This list can then be sent back into the EMIS system. The list can then be browsed by the doctors directly in the EMIS system and patient records updated accordingly.
Recall
Having generated the prioritised list of patients for recall and having chosen which ones to send letters to using Merge Options, this list can now be sent back into EMIS. A read code indicating that a letter has been sent can be added to this list as a batch. The letters can then be mail merged in Word and sent as usual. Alternatively the list can be sent and the mail merge performed in EMIS 5.2 direct to a letter created on the system. The slight disadvantage of this is the loss of the mail merge field data in the PCAG document detailing the care that the patient is due.
