Q: I have successfully installed and run the CHD audit for EMIS (LV) only to have 40 or more reports not exporting to the disc used. Upon inspection the disc seems to have ACRES of spare/ free space and I have also tried (unsuccessfully) to RESEND the missing report files to the disc once I'd highlighted those that were missing.
Answer: The issue is not the SPACE on the disc but the NUMBER of files on the disc. If you download to an empty disc (i.e. one that does not have the queries you uploaded on it) you should have no problem. I suspect the max number is about 220.
Q: I had loaded the queries into the EMIS Scheduler and started to run that immediately, when all of a sudden they stopped running and have not moved for over 5 minutes!
Answer: A couple of possibilities here. The first thing to check is that next to the query that is highlighted it says "Running". If not, check if the top of the screen reads "SCHEDULER ON" and system "(RUNNING)". If the SCHEDULER is OFF, then press the "O" button to toggle the scheduler back on. If the system says "(HALTED)" press the "R" to set them running again.
If neither of these work, I would assume that the system is very busy and that the queries will just take awhile. It might be wise to come out of the scheduler and start again.
Q: On EMIS LV I loaded the housekeeping / recall set but got an Error in query message. When I looked at a query it said there was an invalid local agreement. Help!
Answer: By default the LV system is set up to run local queries. If it won't it means that someone has deleted the LOCAL query agreement for some reason. We have come across this if someone has set up another remote enquirer and removed the LOCAL enquirer. Why they should do this is anyone's guess! You need to set up a new LOCAL enquirer. From main menu type QP. Choose Enquirer Set up and then set up remote enquirer. (Yes, it should give a local option, it's just one of those EMIS quirks we have come to love) Enter the name and details of the new enquirer as LOCAL. Set the enquirer privileges so that all data can be extracted. Save this. Under Enquirer set up you should now see LOCAL as an option, along with NHSPCAG or other enquirers. Delete and reload the queries and you are off.
Q. As I entered the Query Processor (QP) section on my EMIS LV system, I was prompted whether I wanted to "update the Miquest Query Sets" - to which I pressed "Yes". However I noticed in the PCAG instructions that it tells you to say "No" and I have noticed that the PCAG query sets do not run on our system now. How can I undo this?
I am afraid that the PCAG query sets will not run on the updated Miquest version. The only way of undoing this problem is to ring EMIS themselves and ask them to return you to Miquest Version 3.
Q. I went to an EMIS LV practice recently to run an Electronic CHD audit. We downloaded the Miquest queries from the website and then put them onto the EMIS system. However, every query for the CHD audit gave the message "error in query" next to it! We had run the Housekeeping set earlier and this had been fine. Can you help?
Answer: Yes I can! This is because the practice has not set up the query processor with PCAG as a remote enquirer (see Electronic changes July 2002). The Housekeeping queries are run as Local queries, because the results are kept in the practice. However, the audit is run with PCAG as a remote enquirer, so the results can be sent to PCAG for analysis and so the practice can be sure that the queries have come from PCAG & are secure.
Q: I downloaded and ran the query set as usual on an EMIS LV system but halfway through the queries stopped running and I got an error message.
A: A coincidental EMIS dial in to download patches to your system can cause this. Try running the queries again later
Q: I was at a practice this morning, attempting to run some queries. After I had watched the queries load, I pressed F1 in order to watch them be checked. However, the queries did not get checked even after 15 minutes of waiting. I then tried to authorise the queries using the menu at the top of the screen - nothing.
Answer: This is a common problem if the system is busy. The queries get put at the bottom of the list of things to do by the server. You can force the server to check them by highlighting the queries in turn and then pressing 'E' for edit query and then F8 to file (without changing anything in the query!!!). This forces the query to be checked. Its then a case of pressing down arrow to get to next in list, press 'E' then F8, and repeating the process many times, until you get to bottom. Tedious but it works!
Q: Yesterday I ran a set of queries. I watched them all load up, then run and finally I downloaded them to the floppy disk. However, when I checked later, my disk was empty and I had nothing to send to PCAG. The disk is not locked. Any explanation?
Answer: Several causes I can think of here ...
Was disc in A drive of the SERVER - not a satellite PC?
Did you download to C:\shared\ or C, and not A?
Did you mark all the queries before downloading?
Are CSV files listed as hidden files in your Windows Explorer and is Explorer configured only to show non-hidden files?
Moral - check the disc before leaving the building using Windows Explorer
Q: When I try running the spreadsheets to analyse the audit data in the practice I get a 'Can't find Library error' and the Macros to load the response files won't run. Can you help?
Answer: This is to do with the installation of Excel on your PC. For the Visual Basic Macros to run the program needs access certain visual basic files which are usually installed when Microsoft Office is installed. This error is because they were not installed at the time Microsoft Office was set up, possibly to save space on your hard drive. We suggest you try the following. Obtain the Microsoft Office installation CD, close applications down and run the Setup program. (This should happen automatically on loading the CD - if not hit Setup.exe in the root directory). Choose Add/Remove. Select Microsoft Word and 'Change options' - one of them should be for Help files. Choose the Change options again and ensure that any check boxes for Visual Basic or Visual Basic Help are checked. Click ok. Repeat the same process for Excel (and Powerpoint if installed). Click ok and allow the system to update your computer with the Visual Basic files. This should solve the problem. If not try Select All options for Excel and Word in the Setup program.
