What about data from Hospitals
Will data from the Pathlink automatically go into the template?
Q: Some of their patients are currently being treated via the Hospital but do not have their results from clinics and they are reluctant to call the patient again.
Answer: The Practice needs to ensure that incoming letters from hospitals, containing relevant data, are checked and read codes added to the template. Dr Shepherd's practice scan letters and then add coded data via the template, to the consultation associated with the scanned letter. The data input protocol was designed for this purpose.
Q: Do the pathlink results go into the template or do the practice need to input separately?
Answer: Providing that the pathlinks software at the practice end is set up correctly, using the codes that appear in the template, then yes. I have recently had to update the glucose codes, as the ones I used originally have now become defunct. Basically practices need to download a sub-template off the website onto their system, which will use the up to date glucose codes. The query set has backwards compatibility & will pick up the old codes as far as audit is concerned. Thus no need to enter data twice!!!!
