PCAG successfully completed a second series of the Clinical Audit Training Sessions for Community Staff in the summer of 2003. Evaluation of the event will be available on the website soon. In the meantime, here is some information on the course content:
Each Training session was split into two halves. In the morning the PCAG team introduced delegates to Clinical Audit and offered practical advice on making audit happen. There were also explanations on how audit differs from research, as well as a brief introduction to significant event auditing. To complete the morning session, a member of the Strategic Health Authority provided a brief and practical presentation on clinical governance.
In the afternoon, Isla Kuhn from the Clinical Sciences Library, facilitated a session focusing on literature searching. This included advice on which websites may be of particular use to community staff. To conclude the day, attendees received training in critical appraisal.
Delegates were able to attend the entire day or either the morning or afternoon session. The event was entirely free to community staff in Leicestershire.
