Patient Involvement in Clinical Audit

Do you have an idea for a primary care audit that you would like carried out?  Perhaps you live in Leicestershire or Northamptonshire Heartlands PCT and have received care from a primary care professional (GP, Practice Nurse, Dentist, Optician, Health Visitor, District Nurse, Midwife, etc) in this area.  Maybe you are a relative or carer of a patient and have a suggestion for an audit project.  Alternatively, perhaps you have an interest in a particular disease area (e.g. Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease, etc) and would like to be involved in helping Leicestershire PCAG devise audits and help improve service delivery.  Maybe you are not sure what clinical audit is and would like to receive more information explaining the process.

Patient Complaints and Queries - PALS service

PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) is a new service that is being introduced in every NHS trust including primary care trusts.  The service will provide support to patients, carers and relatives, representing their views and resolving local difficulties on-the-spot by working in partnership with trust staff.

PALS will perform three critical roles –

·        Helping to resolve patients’ concerns quickly and efficiently, and improving the outcome of care in the process

·        Providing information to patients to make contact with the NHS as easy as possible

·        Act as a catalyst for change by reporting to Trust Boards on a regular basis patients “experience of healthcare”
