Processing Housekeeping results on an EMIS LV system

Processing Housekeeping results will now be done at the practice using a spreadsheet that is downloaded with the housekeeping queries.

The procedure is as follows

1) Download the required housekeeping set to a blank floppy in the machine you are using to access the web site (or direct to the c:\shared\ directory on your server)

2) Run the housekeeping queries from the floppy or c:\shared\ as usual (see handling Miquest queries page).

3) Download the response files in the usual way to the same floppy that you uploaded them from (or a blank floppy if using the c:\shared\ directory)

4) Place the floppy in a machine that has Excel 97 or later loaded - if you are not sure whether the PC has Excel, you can proceed to the next step and if Excel 97 or later is present, the file should open and the Macros should work.

(If you do not have Excel it is available FOC under the agreement of NHS with Microsoft - contact your PCT).

5) Generally on the desktop of a PC, there is an icon of a small computer which is entitled "My Computer".  Use this (or Windows Explorer or Network Neighbourhood) to locate the A: (floppy) Drive (or on c:\shared\ drive) and then find the Excel file entitled "CHDDMHOUSKEEPING.xls"

6) Double click on the CHDDMHOUSEKEEPING.xls file to open it.

7) When prompted click "Enable Macros" .

(You may need to adjust the settings of Excel to allow macros to run - choose prompt - it's safer).

8) The 'macro' that processes the housekeeping files will now run automatically loading the data from the floppy into the spreadsheet - you will basically just see the screen flashing a lot!!!!

Wait until all the processing is finished. (It may take a minute or 2 if this is the first time you've done it in your practice or if its a very big practice)

Once completed, it will then save the results file automatically onto the Floppy (A:) drive.

9) The program will tell you when done - there will be a text box. You know need to close this windows text box and then Excel without saving the changes.

10) You should now be able to locate a file on the "My computer" (or Windows Explorer or Network Neighbourhood) screen, within the A: (floppy) drive, entitled HKeep...xls

11) Double click this file to open it and it will contain the Housekeeping data results on various spreadsheets within the file.

(To see how the files should look, see the "What does Feedback from PCAG look like?")
